Wanrun New Energy Explores Malaysia’s EV Charging Market: EMA&GATE Exhibition, Research, and Customer Visits
19 Nov,2025
Kuala Lumpur, November 2025 — The Wanrun New Energy team embarked on a fruitful market exploration trip to Malaysia this November, combining participation in the EMA&GATE exhibition with in-depth market research and customer visits.

A Vibrant Kuala Lumpur in the Rainy Season
November in Kuala Lumpur is marked by its rainy season. Each morning began with bright sunshine as the team headed to the KLCC exhibition hall, only to be greeted later by refreshing tropical showers. The bustling KLCC district, with its towering skyscrapers and lush greenery thriving in the rain, offered a vivid backdrop of sunshine and showers chasing each other—an apt reflection of the city’s dynamic energy.
Insights from the EMA Exhibition
At the exhibition, Wanrun New Energy connected with Chinese peers who are advancing rapidly in the charging industry, many of whom had already established local production lines with partners. Interest extended beyond the charging sector, with participants from real estate, oil, and energy industries exploring opportunities in EV infrastructure. This raised important questions: What roles do charging equipment manufacturers, CPOs, oil companies, and power providers play in shaping the industry in Malaysia—and where can Wanrun contribute?
Market Perspectives and Opportunities
While some participants expressed concerns that Malaysia’s charging infrastructure has already reached saturation due to limited EV adoption and the end of government protection policies, Wanrun remains optimistic. With EV penetration still low, the market holds significant long-term potential. Even in a competitive landscape, identifying the right niche offers ample opportunities for growth and collaboration.
Exploring Kuala Lumpur’s Charging Stations
Beyond the exhibition, the team visited several CPO charging stations—including DC Handal, ChargeSINI, ChargeEV, JomCharge, EVpowe, and GoEV—to study payment methods, charging power, and user experiences. These insights will help tailor Wanrun’s products and services to better meet the needs of Malaysian customers.
Customer Engagement and Collaboration
Customer visits formed another key part of the trip. The team held in-depth discussions with partners in the oil & gas and energy industries, explored potential production and re-export trade with a leading manufacturing company in Penang, and considered future collaborations with a European charging software developer newly entering the Malaysian market.
Looking Ahead
Though this marks only the beginning of Wanrun New Energy’s journey in Malaysia, the trip highlighted both opportunities and challenges in the local EV charging market. Competition is already strong, and regulatory changes add uncertainty. Still, by building partnerships and continuing to study customer needs, Wanrun can explore where it fits into this evolving landscape. The path forward may not be easy, but it is worth pursuing with caution and focus.
